Serving Size Guide 

​When it comes to healthy eating, how much you eat can be just as important as what you eat. Eating portions that are too big can lead to overeating and weight gain.

​At each meal, aim to create a balanced plate by filling your plate with fruits and vegetables, protein rich foods and healthy fat.

How many servings per day? 

The total number of servings you should eat each day depends on how many calories your body needs. If you're a healthy individuals, your calories requirements are determined by your
  • age
  • gender
  • height
  • weight (depending on your BMI, an adjusted body weight may provide a more accurate estimate). 
  • level of activity. 
There are several equations that can be used to estimate your daily calorie needs, but these only provide an estimate.  This being said, your best guide for how much to eat is your appetite.  Some days you will be hungrier than others. This is normal. ​Practice mindful eating and follow your natural hunger and satiety cues to guide you in how much to eat throughout the day. ​
