When pursuit of exercise is about feeling good, and not about calories burned or used as penance for eating, it becomes enjoyable and sustainable. 

Movement that feels enjoyable 
  • Enhances the mind-body connection and coordination, and does not confuse or de-regulate it. 
  • Alleviates physical and mental stress and does not contribute to or amplify stress. 
  • Provides genuine enjoyment and pleasure and is not used for punitive reasons
  • Used to rejuvenate the body, not to exhaust or deplete it. 

Exercise can feel like punishment for having the wrong body. 

If you could separate exercise from weight loss, are there any reason why you would still decide to engage in physical activity?

Make a list of reasons that you might choose to move your body that have nothing to do with losing weight. 

Examples might include, endurance, strength, stress reduction, health benefits, social connection, and the simple pleasure of moving your body.
